We know the number of shut downs in all sectors is leading to a loss of work for a lot of people. As always, EWAN is here to help with bills as we are able.
Currently we are processing all requests for financial assistance over the phone. Please call our office at 630-782-6006 and leave a message. A volunteer will return your call between 10 am and noon, Monday-Friday.
Be aware that Governor Pritzker has called for a suspension of utility shut-offs and late fees until at least May 1—for water, gas and electric services--so you should not be facing any shut-offs. If any consumers experience any disruptions or disconnections you should contact the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
There is also a moratorium on court ordered evictions until April 17, at which time the situation will be reevaluated. No one can be evicted from their apartment before that time.
Both the Immaculate Conception Food Pantry and the Elmhurst Yorkfield Food Pantry are currently open during their regularly scheduled hours. If you are a new client, please call the site to get registered before visiting.
As long as the shelter-in-place order is in place, visits to the IC Food Pantry will also be processed over the phone. Upon arrival, call the EWAN site at 630-782-6006. We will register your visit and notify the food pantry. Your prepackaged food bag will be placed outside the pantry door with your name on it. The pantry regrets that it cannot offer free choice at this time.
At this time, the EYFP is not accepting any new clients. Like IC, they will be packing boxes of food for you and putting them directly in your trunk. Click https://www.eyfp.org/covid-19-response for further information.
